We hear a lot about “data-driven decisions” these days. For many of us, these words conjure up images of rooms full of computers, endless spreadsheets, and the ever-mysterious “algorithm”. But data-driven decision making isn’t as mysterious or complex as it sounds. In fact, each of us uses data to make decisions every day of our lives. Doing so intentionally can help us make better decisions in our life and work.

In this workshop, Dr. Maryfrances Porter provides an introduction to how to use data in making decisions (from personal decisions to daily work decisions to formal strategic planning), and how these processes are different than making decisions not based on data. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of data-driven decision making and a template for making data-driven decisions, including tips for presenting data and incorporating them into a process for making better decisions.
