We are all idealists—we want to make the world a better place. But how do take our ideals and ideas and make the change we want to see? Nonprofits do that through programs and projects. This process means turning ambitions into something that has a scope, a time frame, and an idea of resources needed to make it happen. Project management is the art of elaborating these plans and actually making things happen. It’s at the heart of every nonprofit program, whether that program teaches kids, builds houses, or stages plays.

In this workshop, Liz Silva, co-founder and CEO of INK and CNE’s YLAI Professional Fellow, will lead you through the key elements of project management. You’ll see how an idea moves from problem identification to design to planning and implementation to evaluation.

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of:
• The unique characteristics of project management in the social sector
• The role of a program or project manager
• How to strategically connect projects, programs, mission, and impact
• Key strategies for organizational impact

Staff involved in strategic planning, programs, or fundraising as well as anyone interested in understanding more about the unique characteristics of social impact projects should attend.
