Workshops

Many coalitions start with gathering organizations already involved in addressing various aspects of a community-wide issue such as homelessness. The groups begin their work by building a joint understanding of the issue(s), and the roles and efforts of the organizations already working in the issue arena. Often, coalitions will then identify the need to move from a loose network convened for the purpose of information sharing to a forum that is able to tackle complex problems through long-term coordinated action. Kaki Dimock was the Executive Director for Thomas Jefferson Area Homeless Coalition at its founding and shepherded the group through the early stages of this process. This POP Talk will provide content on key characteristics of groups looking to engage in coordinated action and will also allow time for peer-to-peer discussion and learning.

This session will be of use to anyone working through this stage of a coalition or partnership.
