The Haven

Respite for the Weary, Transformation for the Ready

May 30, 2023

Dear Friend of The Haven,

As The Haven celebrates a decade of dedication to the needs of unhoused citizens of Charlottesville, we are seeking individuals to serve on our Board who are eager to operationalize our vision for ending homelessness in Charlottesville.

To meet the ongoing needs of our guests on the path to housing, we offer radical hospitality in the day shelter with showers, mailboxes, storage, and meals staffed by volunteers as well as case workers. Our housing team works to house people experiencing homelessness and prevent people from falling into homelessness. We work collaboratively with the Blue Ridge Area Coalition for the Homeless, and with service providers in our community.

The Haven is exploring new avenues for supporting people experiencing homelessness, including working with the City of Charlottesville to increase safe overnight housing opportunities.  The Haven is working as a team to uncover racialized housing barriers for our guests in our own organization and the community and is committed to developing anti-racist policies. We hope that you will join us.

Sincerely,

Ella Jordan, Board Development co-chair

Paul Martin, Board Development co-chair
