Desired skills, perspectives, experiences, and characteristics of new board members
University Montessori School, a non-profit preschool serving ages 3-6, is looking for several new board members. We are a small but mighty community that is interested in expanding our board to reflect the qualities we pride our school on including diversity and community as well as a nature-centered approach to education. We specifically are looking for members that may have backgrounds in non-profits, fundraising, strong financial management and strategic planning. The time commitment is roughly one meeting a month for approximately 2 hours after work hours during the school year, with potentially extra hours for additional help where needed and a possible retreat during the year. The board term commitment is 3 years.
We have been meeting virtually during the pandemic, and will also consider members who are remote that can be available via Zoom. If you have any questions, please contact Heather Heisig, heather@universitymontessori.org.
University Montessori School, a member of the American Montessori Society, is a diverse family-centered school community embodying the best practices of Montessori education in facilitating the academic, emotional, physical and social development of each child. In an atmosphere of respect and warmth, parents, teachers and children collaborate to nurture an enduring love of learning and a view of the responsibilities and possibilities of life. We are a welcoming community in which children and adults find friendship and support, a place where all are encouraged to broaden their understanding of themselves, others and the world.
