Desired skills, perspectives, experiences, and characteristics of new board members
The Talking Book Center is a national-award winning library service, a subregional library for the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS). Board members are required to participate in raising funds for the organization, and promoting services to local area blind, low-vision, and physically disabled community partners. Board positions vary, someone with disability services background would be helpful. Board members with minimal financial knowledge would be helpful. Board members with fundraising experience would be helpful.
Annual Time Commitment (including committee meetings, special events, work outside the board, etc.)
The board meets monthly for 1.5 hours. With committee meetings and special events, monthly time commitments are generally around 5 hours.
