Warren Buford
Title: Secretary
Warren holds a B.A. in political science from Davidson College in North Carolina and an MPhil in political studies (transitional justice) from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, where he served as a Rotary International Ambassadorial Fellow. He has enjoyed teaching and guest lecturing in secondary and higher education courses on social entrepreneurship and community development and conducting workshops and consultancies on institutional advancement. Warren is the executive director of development at the University of Virginia School of Engineering. He previously worked in senior development roles at St. Anne’s Belfield School and the University of Virginia leading two supporting foundations and spearheading multi-year philanthropic campaigns, and has worked also at the Children’s Defense Fund and Davidson College. Board service in Charlottesville includes Albemarle Housing Improvement Program (AHIP), CNE Philanthropy Day Committee, Olivet Presbyterian Church, and the Discovery Museum. He also serves as founding member of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Africa Advisory Committee. Warren and his wife, Ashley, also an educator, have two children, Max and James, and together they enjoy athletics, travel, the outdoors, and local offerings.
