Leaders To The Front

March 21, 2019

Think about the leaders at your nonprofit. Did you immediately picture the Executive Director? Were you focused on the President and CEO? Was the first person who came to mind the Board Chair? The people in these roles do steer the ship, and yet employees and board members without those titles can also be important leaders.

While some think you have to be born with traits of a leader, every nonprofit professional and board member can take steps to cultivate leadership qualities. First define how good leaders become successful at guiding others. Do they focus on whom they serve? Do they prioritize impact? Do they attract people to the mission? Do they think strategically? They do all of those things and more.

The best leaders educate, inspire, and motivate. Whether it’s with other board members, colleagues, community stakeholders, or donors – the team captains are those who engage deeply to share their experience and insights, build excitement, and foster an environment of growth.

If you are a board member interested in enhancing your leadership skills, please join us Wednesday, May 1 for CNE’s Board Orientation Workshop.
