Data That Matters

September 06, 2018
Dear Colleagues,

How we compensate our employees and who we hire has a direct impact on our mission. That’s why CNE is excited to announce our first-ever Regional Nonprofit Compensation and Benefits Report — a tool to guide us in promoting fair and equitable compensation within our own organizations and in the sector. The report was conducted in partnership with The Community Foundation for a greater Richmond and administered by Partnership for Strategic Impact™.

Nonprofits who participated in the survey received a free copy of the full Report, which also is available to purchase for $150. An infographic overview and accompanying discussion guide are available at no cost to all and made possible through the financial support of CFA Institute.

Findings suggest that sector salaries in the region are lower than comparable positions nationally and that there are gender and racial disparities in leadership roles and compensation. For example, women, while well-represented in leadership roles, are paid $.83 on the dollar in Charlottesville and $.76 on the dollar in Richmond, compared to male counterparts.

We welcome your feedback on the report and your suggestions about what trainings or programming would be helpful for your organization in developing sustainable and equitable compensation and benefits practices.

Thank you again to all who took the time to complete the survey, and for your important contribution to a deeper knowledge of human resources practices within the nonprofit sector.

Sincerely,

Cristine Nardi
Executive Director
