Yesterday a group of CNE staff members visited the Haven Homecooking for lunch. As we feasted on delicious eggplant parmesan and cannolis, we caught up on the good work of local nonprofits. The mission-driven work you all do, from education to arts and advocacy, protecting the environment and providing shelter. You’re all engaged, invested, dedicated and smart people making the world better. Thank you for all that you do!
You are the inspiration for our annual Celebration of Strong Nonprofits event! Please join us on Thursday, May 10, 2018, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at The Bridge Progressive Arts Initiative.
This event is free and open to all—CNE members, local nonprofits, business and community leaders, philanthropists, friends, family, and the community. Last year, we heard that the event felt welcoming to those outside the nonprofit sector who wanted to learn more and meet new people, and we hope this year will be the same.
This is an opportunity to celebrate the nonprofits that knit our community together, to learn from one another, to potentially find collaborative partners for your work, and just find time to eat, drink, and be together.
CNE’s staff lunch yesterday—and our Celebration of Strong Nonprofits—are opportunities to build and maintain our “social capital,” which Robert Putnam calls “the glue that binds people together and gives meaning to our civic lives.” It’s important for us to find ways to come together—and we look forward to seeing you there!
