Financial Leadership in Practice

February 22, 2018

CNE, in partnership with the CFA Institute, is excited to accept applications for the 2018 Financial Leadership in Practice (FLIP) program.

FLIP guides nonprofits in clarifying fiduciary responsibilities, building financial decision-making processes, and mitigating risk. Participants learn to create budget processes that are engaging, support sustainability, and align financial systems to outcomes.

FLIP consists of two full-day workshops, three tutorials, and one organizational consultation. Justin Pollack, of OrgForward, leads the workshops and consultations. Justin brings tremendous experience, including as the Chief Operating Officer for Maryland Nonprofits before founding OrgForward.

FLIP requires a team of at least two individuals from the organization (board members, executive directors, senior finance, or program leaders) to ensure that learnings are fully incorporated into organizations. The initial workshops will take place May 21 & 22. Contact CNE Program Manager, Andrew Robinson, with questions.

The FLIP workshop helped our Finance department think differently about how to present information related to our budget in a way that doesn’t intimidate or confuse our stakeholders. Our work in the FLIP workshop helped our organization identify strategies to make the budget a useful, guiding tool.

FLIP helped educate me and my co-workers about some deeper financial issues in relation to our organization. We are implementing a new financial report to the board so they are better informed about their fiduciary responsibilities and how their leadership helps guide our mission and vision.
