CNE’s Management Academy, a comprehensive nine month program, helps to grow talent while acclimating those new to the sector. An effective tool that develops internal candidates for leadership positions, Management Academy is a valuable opportunity to nurture excellence.
As someone that moved from corporate to a non-profit setting, Management Academy has been extremely beneficial. Completing training in core competencies helped to bring together all aspects of my role, but also enabled me to connect and understand the roles of employees I support. I believe that the capability to relate and show empathy to our employees is key as a human resources professional. Now that I have more of an idea of what they are facing on a daily basis, I am better able to respond to their concerns regarding communication with our board members, internally among Foundation employees, or externally across Grounds at UVA.

Those who partake in Management Academy create a personal learning plan that aligns with their professional development goals. Through various workshops, attendees gain an overview of nonprofit management in areas of finance, philanthropy, governance, personnel management, marketing, and program evaluation. But it doesn’t stop there: Participants are coached along the way to fully integrate what they’ve learned into their work environment.
